Today's consumers are more health conscious than ever. They read labels and get to know as much as possible about the products they buy. But good intentions aside, not everyone has the time to do their homework, and sometimes they make uninformed choices.

The African American Medical Network is a place-based television network that delivers advertiser-supported television educational programming about medical & health issues specifically related to African American patients' interests and needs. Available only through doctors' offices serving the African American populace, African American Medical Network was developed to create awareness about key diseases and the regimen needed to preserve life and the quality of life. Its culturally relevant programming speaks to the African American audience through messages and information that reflect their values and beliefs.

African American Medical Network is available to any of the approximately 30,000 African American physicians in the U.S who wish to subscribe. Each subscriber will receive a loaner TV/DVD viewing system to be installed in the doctors' waiting room along with a monthly updated DVD magazine that will present continuous educational programming interspersed with commercial advertising. Our service is advertiser supported, is virtually free to the subscribing doctor, and serves to educate and entertain their patients, reducing perceived waiting time and making the patient more receptive to additional services.

Each monthly DVD magazine will have up to 24 educational segments interspersed with approximately the same number of commercial advertising spots, billboards, and public service announcements.  Topics that have been addressed include obesity, prostate cancer, cholesterol, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, arthritis, asthma, acid reflux disease, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes.  Some future topics include hypertension, breast cancer, immunization, glaucoma, lung cancer, respiratory problems, gastrointestinal disorders, stroke, erectile dysfunction, smoking, depression, migraines, family planning, and geriatric care.
